Vijayawada: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Purandeswari responded on the issuance of a non-bailable warrant against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in an eight-year-old case relating to the Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) protest over construction of Babli Project across Godavari river by the Maharashtra government. Speaking to media here today, Purandeswari said that the BJP had nothing to do with the warrant. How can the BJP be blamed for a case that has been filed back in 2010? she asked.

Purandeswari said that blaming the Centre for the warrant was illogical. The TDP leaders should consult the Maharashtra government instead of blaming it on the BJP, she added.

Claiming that the Babli project construction was illegal, in 2010, the TDP, under the leadership of the then Leader of Opposition Chandrababu Naidu, led a protest against the Maharashtra government.

The BJP leader asserted that the Polavaram project, which is a national project, would be completed by the Centre. Adding that the Centre did not do injustice to the State government, she said that short delays might have occurred due to technical glitches. The party leadership will discuss the state of affairs in the State and an action plan will be chalked out to strengthen the party cadre, she explained.

Meanwhile, President of the BJP in Andhra Pradesh Kanna Lakshmi Narayana also pooh-poohed Chandrababu Naidu’s accusations that PM Narendra Modi was behind the AP chief minister’s arrest warrant. He reminded Chandrababu that he had it was his absence at 22 court hearings of the case which led to the NBW. This is the standard legal procedure, he said. Chandrababu Naidu, however, is staging fresh dramas blaming the BJP and PM Modi for everything, Kanna said.

Chandrababu Misleading Public: YSRCP MLA

Hyderabad: YSR Congress party (YSRCP) MLA Gadikota Srikanth Reddy criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for trying to utilize the non-bailable warrant issued against him, for publicity purposes. Speaking to media at the party's Central office here today, he said that Chandrababu, with his craving for publicity, did not spare even Court notices. He added that Chandrababu began a new drama in the name of ''Jalasiri Haarathi'', while the farmers of Rayalaseema region are in distress.

Srikanth Reddy said that Chandrababu was trying to fool the public by making film stars say scripted stories in the name of 'Operation Garuda'. Why is Chandrababu so scared of Court notices? he asked.

The YSRCP leader asserted that after skipping the Court sessions on 22 occasions, Chandababu is trying to make a fuss about it now. "Chandrababu, who is alleging the involvement of BJP in the warrant, should suspend the wife of Maharashtra Finance minister from the TTD Board," he remarked.
