ACB Unearths Crores In Raids On Abids Bill Collector Houses

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday raided the house of GHMC's Abids area bill collector Narasimha Reddy under Kukatpally and unearthed crores worth properties he amassed through corruption.

The ACB sleuths simultaneously raided Reddy's residence at Shatavahana Nagar and other properties on the clues of disproportionate assets amassed by him in Hyderabad and several other places including his native Siddipet.

At his 3-storied residence in Shatavahana Nagar, documents of properties - three flats in city, seven open plots in KPHB, Nizampet and other areas, 32 acres of agricultural land in Nangunuru in Siddipet district, 9kg gold - were found.

Lakhs of rupees in various bank accounts and insurance policies worth Rs34 lakh were also seized. His two sons are studying MS in the USA.

A dramatic scene took place when the ACB sleuths swung on Reddy house. He locked himself in a bathroom and was shouting that he will commit suicide if they don't leave the house immediately. However, the officials could drag him out of the bathroom after forcibly opening the door.

A team of ACB sleuths will continue the raids at Reddy's residence till the evening and other teams at his relatives houses in different places.

"Once the inventory of properties is completed, we will arrest him," says ACB official. The properties are are worth Rs2 crore as per government value, but it will be lot more in the market, he added.
