5 Engineering students killed after their speeding car skids off motorway

Mumbai:  In a ghastly road accident, 5 engineering students were killed on Monday night after the car they were travelling in skidded off Mumbai –Pune motorway and crashed into the wilderness.

The mishap took place near Kamshet tunnel, Pune on the previous night and the death was instantaneous for three of them and two succumbed to injuries in hospital while one is said to be in a critical condition, the sources said.

The three of the deceased were identified as Aditya Bhandarkar, Yash Shirali and Abhishek.

According to the eyewitness, who rushed to the scene and rescued three out of the car and sent them to nearby hospital, said, the accident took place as the vehicle lost the control and swerved away from the pavement and somersaulted into the side by woods. The driver was speeding on the highway and lost control over the vehicle, they added.

It is not clear whether the students were drunk or not at the time of the mishap.
