2 More Hyderabadi Women Face Trouble In Saudi

Hyderabad: In yet another case of city women facing hardships in Gulf countries, two women from Hyderabad have complained of being cheated and tortured by their employers in Saudi Arabia. The victims claimed that they were offered beautician jobs but were forced to work as domestic helps.

Haleemunnisa (31), native of Falaknuma , went to Saudi on March 19 through her agent Viquar. She was promised a salary of Rs70,000 for a beautician job. However, she was forced to do household chores and was tortured by her employers' family. She informed the matter to her brother Md Asif about her travails and that her employer was demanding Rs6 lakh to relieve her.

She was paid 1,500 riyals for three months but later they stopped paying. Her agent Adil told us that she can only be relieved from the place if she pays Rs70,000

A cheating case against the agent has been registered by Falaknuma inspector P. Yadagiri. The inspector directed Asif to write a letter to Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) as through its intervention women who were left stranded in Saudi were successfully brought back home in previous instances.

Another woman Arshiya Begum of Golconda left for Saudi in September last year. However, upon landing she was directed to go to Jeddah. Though she was offered beautician job, she was made to do household works. Her husband Md. Ibrahim Ali said that she took up the job as she didn't find any alternative.

"She was paid 1,500 riyals for three months but later they stopped paying. Her agent Adil told us that she can only be relieved from the place if she pays Rs70,000," said Ali. Ali too has been advised to write a letter to MEA by the Golconda inspector Syed Fayaz.
