2 Arrested For Attempting To Rape 28-Year-Old Woman

Hyderabad: Two men were arrested on Thursday for allegedly trying to rape a 28-year-old woman after thrashing her friend in Qutbullapur in the city.

The accused, identified as Sohail, a vegetable vendor and Joginder Pal Singh, a private employee, tried to rape the woman when she was talking to her friend by the roadside at Bowrampet.The duo, who came in a car, beat up her male friend after tying his hands and then dragged the woman to nearby bushes and tried to rape her. Some locals, who were passing by the area, heard the victim's screams and then alerted the police. They rushed to the spot and rescued the woman. The duo had managed to escape from the spot after seeing the police. However, the police traced and arrested the two persons.

The victim is a native of Khammam, who came to the city in search of a job. A case was registered under relevant sections of the IPC and investigation is on.
