YSRCP MP files petition in SC for stay on T bill - Sakshi Post

YSR Congress Party MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy filed a petition in Supreme Court asking for a stay on state bifurcation.  In his petition, the MP said that the state is being bifurcated unconstitutionally and in a forcible way.

“The centre is going ahead with state bifurcation in spite of the fact that the bill was rejected by the state assembly. With the attitude of the Centre, people of Andhra Pradesh are left with no choice than taking legal recourse.  Bifurcating the state is being done by keeping aside the recommendations of Srikrishna Committee”, said Mekapati in his petition.

“Several industries, educational institutes and key organizations were established in and around the city of Hyderabad. Both Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra were neglected in the issue. All the investments were only confined to the city for the last 50 years.  About 99 percent of Public Sector Undertakings were established in Hyderabad only. Approximately 60 percent of revenue of Andhra Pradesh is coming from the city itself. Considering these things, we can conclude that the position of the people in Seemandhra region will be so pathetic once the state is bifurcated”, said the MP in his petition.

Considering these things, Mekapati asked the apex court to put a stay on the bifurcation process of Andhra Pradesh.

However, it may be recalled that the earlier petitions of the MP on the issue were rejected by the apex court.
