With No Money For Funeral, Father Dumps Daughter’s Body In Drain

Hyderabad: Financial constraints left a man to dump her 16-year-old daughter's body in a drain, who committed suicide in the first week of May. The incident came to light after residents found the skull of the girl and decomposed body floating in the drain.

According to police, Pentaiah(45) works in a chemical factory. He dumped the body of his daughter Bhavani who committed suicide on May 5 by hanging herself to a ceiling fan. The father ran into financial difficulties after his son, Sitaram committed suicide two years ago. He had borrowed Rs50,000 for the funeral expenses of his son.

Bhavani, who was at home, was involved in petty thefts in the neighbourhood. She had stolen a cell phone in their area, which was traced and recovered by the owner. On the same day, she hanged herself in her home. Pentaiah confessed that he disposed the body by dumping in the drain as he did not have money for funeral.

The police registered a case and took Pentaiah into custody.
