Akun Sabharwal - Sakshi Post

In a sudden turnaround, Telangana Excise Enforcement Director Akun Sabharwal, who is probing the sensational drug scandal case, has cancelled his leave.

He wrote to the Telangana Government asking it to cancel his leave and the Government has immediately agreed to this.

In a strange twist, hours after a list of top Tollywood celebrities came into the public domain in the drug mafia case, Akun Sabharwal said he was going on a 10-day leave from July 16.

Justifying his leave of absence, Akun had clarified that his leave was purely on his personal reasons and it cannot be cancelled now. He said there was no pressure on him from the government to dilute the case.

However, there were widespread speculations that Akun's leave at this critical juncture as a move by the government only to save some biggies involved in the scam. How would his wife Smitha Sabharwal continue to work when Akun goes on leave for his mother's ceremony, netizens asked. The people also highlighted that on Friday morning Akun told a TV channel that he wanted to go on a mountaineering expedition. An hour later, he said he was going on leave to attend his late mother's ceremony. Congress and the TDP also alleged that the Government was scuttling the probe to save the biggies.

Interestingly, Deputy CM Kadiyam Srihari had reportedly admonished Akun for serving notices to the managements of 40 schools and 80 managements. Soon after this he announced that he was going on leave.
