Tension in T Assembly as Protesting Opposition MLAs Are Evicted

Telangana Assembly - Sakshi Post

Mild tension prevailed in the Telangana Assembly on Wednesday after the members of Congress, TDP and CPI-(M), who were demanding clarification from CM K Chandrasekhar Rao on Fee Reimbursement Scheme, refused to move out of the House even after adjournment.

Replying to the debate on Fee Reimbursement Scheme, Rao informed the House that his Government was committed to welfare of students and would fulfill all the promises. Not satisfied with the answer, the Opposition members sought clarifications on CM's reply. At this juncture the Deputy Speaker Padma Davendar Reddy ,who was presiding the session, adjourned the House. Furious over the move the Opposition continued their protests in the House seeking clarifications from the CM.

The Deputy Speaker purposely did not give mike to our leader and adjourned the House. This is not fair. The ruling party promised they will run the House democratically. But in reality it is not so

Senior officials of Assembly Secretariat held discussions with Opposition leader and Congress member K Jana Reddy who refused to vacate the House and sat along with other members. Later in the evening, police evicted the protesting members.

Later, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Uttam Kumar Reddy told reporters that Deputy Speaker deliberately adjourned the House even as the Leader of Opposition Jana Reddy was requesting for mike to seek clarifications after the CM's reply. "The Chief Minister can talk at any length. The Deputy Speaker purposely did not give mike to our leader and adjourned the House. This is not fair. The ruling party promised they will run the House democratically. But in reality it is not so," Reddy said, adding the Congress will take the issue up seriously.

He reiterated Congress will fight on behalf of students and unemployed youth and won't relent until the "fee reimbursement scheme is fully implemented."
