RTC Bus Falls Into Gorge In Jagtial, 47 Kondagattu Pilgrims Killed

Jagtial Road accident: A RTC bus carrying passengers fell into a gorge near Kondagattu Jagtial. Initial reports coming in suggest that 47 passengers are believed to have been killed in the mishap.

A majority of passengers are said to be women. Those injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has expressed shock over the tragedy and offered his condolences to the families of victims.

Rescue operation is on to transport the remaining passengers to a closeby hospital.

It is learnt that driver lost control of the wheel leading to the bus falling into the gorge on the ghat road near Kondagattu in Jagtial.

The scene of mishap was heartbreaking as anxious passengers were seen frantically looking for their loved ones. A few were even attempting to get into the bus through the window to fish out bodies of the deceased.

The condition of driver is yet to be known. According to latest report, kids, women and senior citizens are said to be among the deceased passengers. Passengers were heard crying for help. The passengers were on their way to the Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy temple. The passengers were on their way to the Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy temple.

The bus belonging to Telangana State Road Transport Corp (TSRTC) fell off Kondagattu Ghat Road while returning from a Hanuman temple atop Kondagattu Hills.

The bus was carrying 55 passengers. The injured were shifted to a government-run hospital in Jagtial.

President of India Ramnath Kovind led the nation mourning the death of 47 passengers in the Kondagattu bus accident in Jagtial district.


Telangana CMO tweeted on behalf of caretaker chief minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao to express his deep sorrow at the horrific accident, adding that he had directed officials to launch rescue and relief operations.


The Telangana CMO also tweeted to say that chief minister had announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs. 5 lakhs to members of the bereaved family.


Others who expressed their grief included BJP president, Amit Shah, Telangana IT minister KTR and the chief minister of Gujarat.

Death Toll Rises To 60

The death toll in the ghastly Kondagattu bus accident in Jagtial district has risen to 60, with the death of one passenger in Hyderabad and one in Karimnagar.

The horrific accident left 41 others injured, many of whom are being treated in various hospitals at Karimnagar and Hyderabad.The death toll is feared to go up further with some passengers still in critical condition.
