Bonalu in Hyderabad: Dry Days Ahead

Hyderabad: In view of the upcoming Bonalu festival, city police commissioner Anjani Kumar has ordered the closure of wine and toddy shops across the city temporarily.

On Friday, the commissioner released an order directing shops selling all kinds of wine and toddy and bars in hotels and clubs to be closed starting tomorrow evening. The closure will remain effective until the evening of July 31, the order said.

Several areas under the jurisdiction of the north and central zone of the Hyderabad police commissionerate including Mahankali, Begumpet, Gopalpuram, and Chilkalguda are expected to follow the order.
