Telangana Stands at 32 in National Literacy Rankings

Karimnagar: Telangana state is in the 32nd position in terms of literacy among the 29 states and six union territories in the country, Member of Parliament B Vinod Kumar said.

Presiding as chairman at a meeting of the District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee here on Thursday, he said it is a matter of shame that nothing concrete has been achieved to remove illiteracy in the 68 years since independence. The meeting, held at the district collectorate, reviewed issues pertaining to adult education, government employment guarantee schemes, medical facilities and Aasara scheme.
Besides Vinod Kumar, MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha, Zilla Parishad chairperson T Uma, MLAs and MLCs participated in the review meeting.
