Serial Defectors Konda Couple Claim To Have High Political Values

Hyderabad: The Konda couple hit back at the TRS post their debacle in the Telangana elections held recently. Konda Surekha lost the Parkal assembly seat to TRS candidate Challa Dharma Reddy. She had joined the Congress after she was denied ticket by TRS party. Surekha had served as a minister in Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy's cabinet and was later suspended by the Congress party after she joined YSRCP supporting YS Jagan after the untimely demise of former CM Rajasekhara Reddy. She lost the by-elections held in 2010 and later joined the TRS party in 2014 elections. Surekha emerged as a winner from Warangal Urban. But after being denied a party ticket this time in 2018 she went back to the Congress and lost the elections from Parkal to TRS contestant Challa Dharma Reddy.

Her husband and TRS party’s rebel MLC and Congress leader Konda Murali resigned from his post on Saturday after meeting the Council chairman K. Swamy Goud, claiming that he believed in value-based politics. But the resignation seems to have been submitted after TRS party had filed a complaint against him and other rebel MLCS with the chairman urging him to take action against them and after Notices were sent to them. Elected in 2015 as a TRS MLC he had also defected to the Congress with his wife.

After his resignation the Konda couple addressed the media and Konda Murali said being the first MLC to be elected unanimously in the entire State, he resigned from his post as he believed in value-based politics. He also alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was trying to destroy Opposition in the State legislature by luring the Opposition party MLAs & MLCs by offering positions and money . We both have high political values which is why we are still among the people, he said and that there were not interested in posts or ministerships. People who have no self respect have joined the TRS he criticised. The TRS Party leadership initially acts as if it is encouraging defectors, but later they just ignore it, said further.

Erraballi Dayakar who has been our enemy for the past 30 years has joined the TRS and might even be given ministership he said. We will both fight the TRS feudal attitude staying amidst the public, he said.

Murali’s wife and former MLA Konda Surekha alleged that the ruling party had won the elections by misusing power and spending Rs 50 Crore to defeat those who questioned the anti-people policies of the State government including us, she said. Her husband won the post because of people's support and not because of KCR giving the B form, she said.

They said that KCR was planning to completely route out the opposition in the council and had ensured Jupally's defeat so that Erraballi Dayakar could win. She asked KCR to rule by democratic principles keeping people's welfare in mind she said. Earlier when other leaders defected from the party, they was no disciplinary action taken, but the fact remains that they both will fight the TRS high handedness from the people's domain, she concluded.
