Rahul Hints At Congress-TDP Alliance In PCC Meet

Hyderabad: In a major development, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, on the second day of his tour in Telangana, responded positively to the proposal of an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) before the upcoming elections.

Speaking in a meeting with top Congress leaders from the State, Rahul Gandhi announced that the decisions pertaining to alliances made by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (T-PCC) would be final. He added that any suggestions made by local leaders would be considered.

Rahul said that the Congress would contest along with SP and the BSP parties in Uttar Pradesh, while in Bihar, the Congress-RJD alliance would fight together. He remarked that the Congress, with the support of all the other opposition parties, would fight together to throw Prime Minister Narendra Modi out of power.

Responding to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's comments over dynastic politics in the Congress, Rahul hit back at the TRS Chief saying that in the last 20 years, a member of the Nehru family had not become the Prime Minister. He further said that the Bharatiya Janata Party was functioning under the control of RSS.

TDP Leaders Throng Rahul Meeting

Meanwhile, several businessmen from the TDP lined up for Rahul's meeting with industrialists from the State. TDP MP JC Diwakar Reddy's son JC Pawan, MP TG Venkatesh's son TG Bharath and AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu's daughter-in-law Nara Brahmani were among those who attended the meet.
