Tearful Farewell To Vidyanna; Irrigation Project To Be Named After Him

Hyderabad: Irrigation expert and adviser to the Telangana government Ramaraju Vidyasagar Rao was laid to rest with full state honors on Sunday at Amberpet in Hyderabad.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao including some of his Cabinet colleagues, several others attended Vidyasagar Rao's funeral at a crematorium Amberpet at 10.30am.

Fondly called Vidyanna, the 70-year-old irrigation expert passed away on Saturday at 11.23am following terminal cancer. He had also undergone a bypass surgery in the USA last year. Since then, his health deteriorated making him to remain on bed. According to the doctors, Vidyasagar Rao suffered cardiac arrest on Friday night and he passed away peacefully the next morning.

Void left is difficult to fill, says KCR

The Telangana government has decided to name one of the irrigation projects after him in his memory. Paying homage to Vidaysagar Rao, KCR termed his death as an irreparable loss to the state of Telangana.

KCR was seen breaking down into tears recalling his close association with Vidyanna during separate statehood agitation.
