TDP should get due funds from Centre - Sakshi Post

YSR Congress has demanded that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu should break his silence and speak out on the special status to the State besides mounting pressure on the Centre for more funds as the present sequence of events point that TDP is mortgaging the self respect and pride of Telugu people in Delhi.

“The silence of Chandrababu Naidu on the special status and Central funds shows that he is either fearing the Centre for his past deeds or has given away on a platter the self pride of Telugu people by being silent on the core issues,” Party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu told reporters in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Many aspects which are included in the State Reorganisation Bill have not been honoured, including the special status, setting up of steel plant, petrochemicals factory, industrial corridors and the like.

BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu was very vociferous in the Rajya Sabha on extending the special status to the State to 10 years besides increasing the package for the new state. Launching the electioneering from Tirupati, Narender Modi has appealed to the people to vote for TDP-BJP coalition to bring in Swarnandhra Pradesh and “I am here to give you the assurance of development.”

After elections, it is total silence. Neither BJP speaks of the special status or package nor does TDP raise the issue.  “We do not know if Chandrababu Naidu is afraid of the Centre to raise his voice as he is facing charges on various scams or if he has forgotten the plank on which TDP is formed. He has mortgaged the self respect of Telugu people in Delhi by not getting what is due from the Centre” Rambabu said.

While presenting the budget TDP has said it includes the Rs 14,500 crores due from the Centre and what Delhi has given is a meagre Rs 500 crore with strong indications that not to expect anything more. Still TDP is silent and never raises the voice, despite two TDP ministers in the Union Cabinet and including BJP members in the State cabinet.

We demand that Chandrababu Naidu should at least safeguard the interests of the Telugu people and speak out with assertiveness to get funds and the special status besides all the provisions made in the State Reorganisation Act and the promises made during elections, he said.
