Can't guarantee passage of pending bills in RS: Yechury

CPM politburo member Sitaram Yechury today said his party cannot guarantee the passage of pending Bills in Rajya Sabha during the coming budget session. 

The NDA government introduced anti-people Bills, which have much impact on the economy as well as on the living conditions of the people, Yechury said at the inaugural session of CPM's two-day 24th state conference here. 

The NDA is following a dangerous authoritarian rule by bringing Ordinances, he said. I cannot guarantee the passage the pending bills in the Rajya Sabha but the fate of the Bills will depend on the stand taken by other secular parties, he said. Among the pending bills, the Land Acquisition Bill allows the government to acquire land from farmers without their consent, he said.
The Andhra Pradesh government is also waiting for the passage of Land Acquisition Bill to take lands from the poor farmers for the construction of capital city by land-pooling process, Yechury said. Under the present Land Acquisition Act, the land pooling which has been implemented by AP government will not be allowed, he said.
