Shuttler Sindhu Offers Bonam at Lal Darwaza Temple

Hyderabad: Shuttler PV Sindhu, who won silver medal at Rio Olympics, on Saturday offered prayers to Goddess Mahakali at Laldarwaja temple in old city.

She carried bonam (offerings to the Goddess) on her head and went to the temple in a procession to the accompaniment of traditional nadaswaram. Temple priests welcomed Sindhu family and led the special pooja on behalf of the shuttler.

Sindhu said: “I offer bonum to ammavaru every year.” Before going to Olympics, Sindhu along with her family had offered bonum at Laldarwaja temple.

“I sought blessings of Ammavaru before leaving for Rio Olympics. I told myself that If I win a medal at Rio Olympcs, I will come again to offer bonam. After my best performance at Olympics, I am here to offer bonam.”
