Sasikala Natarajan Elected General Secretary Of AIADMK 

Chennai, Dec 29: The deceased Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's most trusted life companion Sasikala Natarajan has been elected as the new general secretary of AIADMK. As the general secretary post is the highest authority of the party, Sasikala is in the captain's position now.

The party general council that met here on Thursday passed a unanimous resolution to work under Sasikala as party general secretary.

The post fell vacant following the demise of Jayalalithaa on December 5, who was holding both CM and party GS posts. Over 2,000 members are participating in the meeting being held at Vanagaram.

The party's senior leaders have been urging Jayalalithaa's close friend Sasikala Natarajan to take over as general secretary. However, she has been tight-lipped so far.

A multi level security is in place at the meeting venue - Shree Vaaru Mahal - with a large number of party cadres from across the state assembling since early morning.
