'Resignations won't help to keep Andhra Pradesh united' - Sakshi Post

Under pressure from united-Andhra supporters to quit their posts, Congress leaders from Seemandhra regions on Sunday said resignations may not be the best way forward for them in trying to keep the state united.

Asserting that they are not hankering for power, state Law Minister E Pratap Reddy said they need to remain in their posts as the resolution for formation of separate Telangana state may come to the Legislative Assembly.

MLA and senior Congress leader JC Diwakar Reddy and state Minor Irrigation Minister TG Venkatesh also expressed similar views.

The united-Andhra supporters in the Seemandhra regions have demanded that the Congress public representatives quit their posts as a mark of protest against the proposed division of Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, protests continued in the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions today against the division of the state.

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) had endorsed the separate Telangana demand on July 30.
