Rao bats for powers to states to enact land acquisition laws - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: In the backdrop of a stalemate on the Land Acquisition Bill in Parliament, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday said that that the states should be given powers to enact their own land acquisition laws.

It will be better if states have their own laws for land issues. Let the states enact their own laws suitable to their requirements.

"We told the Central Government also. We expect positive response from them", Rao said during an interactive session organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Hyderabad.

Replying to query, he said the Government aims to make Telangana as Seed capital of the country given the favourable conditions such as climate conditions, rainfall and soil quality.

"We have allotted Rs 500 crore for Green Cultivation. In the next 3 to 4 years we will complete major irrigation projects and make the state as one of the best agricultural states in the country", Rao said.

The Chief Minister also sought industry's suggestions on solving labour issues. He said the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is chalking out plans to implement infrastructure projects worth Rs 21,000 crore in the city.
