In yet another example of misuse of power, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had adopted quid pro quo in awarding works to the contractors to those who help the ruling TDP. The names of such contractors would be to be finalised soon for taking up development works in the new capital Amaravathi.

Reports say that Naidu government has decided to allot Rs 2000 crore worth works to a Bangaluru-based private infrastructure company, which had earlier funded some influential TDP leaders. Another major contract is being given to a Vijayawada-based private company. The cost of the works will be around Rs 1500 crore to Rs 2,000 crore.

Interestingly, the officials in the government have leaked the information about the finalization of contract agencies even before the tender process begins. Sources also confirmed that the other agencies have decided to stay away from the bidding process as the works have already been unofficially allocated to TDP's supporters.
