Kurupam, Vizianagaram: Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly and YSR Congress party (YSRCP) chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s mass outreach initiative Praja Sankalpa Yatra is progressing successfully in Kurupam constituency of Vizianagaram district. The padayatra began from Seemanaidu valasa on Tuesday morning. Prominent spiritualist Kondaveeti Jyothirmayi called on the people’s leader and submitted a memorandum requesting him to get rid of political influence on the TTD board.

Later representatives of the employees and teachers unions met the mass leader and submitted a memorandum requesting the eradication of Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). YS Jagan said the CPS will be made null after YSRCP is voted to power. The union representatives extended their support to the Praja Sankalpa Yatra. The auxiliary nurse midwives (ANM’s) met YS Jagan seeking job security. Despite working since eleven years, our salaries have not been raised, they complained to the people’s leader.

Also, Ration dealers met the people’s leader and requested for monthly salaries in place of the current commission mode of payment. Private medical practitioners poured out their concerns to the people’s leader. Recalling late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s reign, they said they were trained and permitted to practice medicine. We have lost our identity during the TDP rule, they added.

Women from GM Valasa met the AP Leader of Opposition and pleaded for laying of a road to Parajapaadu village, a school and drinking water facility in the region. They also complained to the leader about the pensions, which were terminated in TDP rule.

Farmers from nine panchayats of Komarada met YS Jagan and submitted a memorandum seeking action for the Gummidigadda mini-reservoir. They also said if Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy were to be alive, the reservoir would have been constructed long back. "After construction, the reservoir would provide water for irrigation to 12,000 acres. Due to the lack of water facility, farmers in the region are migrating in search of work as agricultural laborers," they said.
