Police Thrash Minor Couple Brutally For Eloping

Kadapa: Police showed their monster side on a minor couple who eloped and married in Kadapa on Saturday.

According to the victims' parents, 17-year-old Harshavardhan, native of Ashok Nagar was in love with a girl of Akula Veedi in Kadapa for the past four years. The duo married on Saturday without the knowledge of parents. On learning about son's marriage, the boy's father approached police with a complaint. Police called the couple for the inquiry to the station and the inspector Ramakrishna thrashed both the boy and the girl with his leather belt black and blue. When the girl's parents tried to intervene and take the badly bruised girl to hospital, he did not even allow them.

As the couple were minors police are supposed to give counselling to them but leaving that aside CI Ramakrishna started to harass the bride and beat her severely. The girl fell unconscious.

After coming to know that the girl was in police station and harassed by the police, family members staged protest against the CI, they also alleged that the CI did not allow them to take the girl to a hospital and he even abused them and threatened them to file a case against them for staging protest.

When the girl's parents called the ambulance to the police station, the CI reportedly sent it back saying that no one was injured here. He also did not release the couple.

Surprisingly, speaking to the media, the CI said that they have called the minor couple to give counselling. He further added that they did not harass or beat anyone.
