Padmavathi Set Under Attack Again

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, Padmavati also stars Shahid Kapoor in a lead role - Sakshi Post

Maharashtra: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Rani Padmavathi set was attacked again. A group of assailants hurled petrol bombs on the movie set in Kolhapur on Wednesday.

This is the second time in three months that Padmavati set was attacked. In January, Karni Sena assaulted the people on shooting spot over alleged distortion of facts in Padmavati in Jaipur.

The film has faced backlash by Hindu Sabha. They had raised an objection to a romantic scene between Allaudin Khilji and Rani Padmini. Later, Bhansali cleared the air and stated that no such scene was being shot.

Padmavati, is a fictionalised account of the life of Rani Padmini, a legendary queen mentioned in Padmavat and 1303 siege of the Chittor fort in Rajputana by Alauddin Khilji, the Turkic ruler of the Delhi Sultanate. According to Padmavat, Khilji led the invasion motivated by his desire to capture the beautiful queen Rani Padmini, the wife of Rana Rawal Ratan Singh, the ruler of Mewar. However, Rani Padmini sacrificed herself even before Khilji could enter her fort.

Meanwhile, no one was injured in the attack and it is reported that Bhansali is safe, but the shooting of the film has been halted. Apart from Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, Padmavati also stars Shahid Kapoor in a lead role.
