Osmania University To Launch J-Hub For Aspiring Journalists

On the lines of technology start-up incubator T-Hub, Osmania University’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communication is launching J-Hub – a journalism industry incubation center on August 9.

J-Hub is an initiative of the department of communication and journalism of the Osmania University and aims to impart practical skills to aspiring journalists in print, electronic, and web streams. J-Hub will be available for all the journalism students from affiliated colleges.

Head of the department K. Stevenson said, “Journalism education is falling short of the dynamic needs of the industry due to compulsions of the academic schedule. Imparting practical skills and professional attitude to students is becoming increasingly difficult.”

Telangana State Public Service Commission chairperson Ghanta Chakrapani would be delivering the inaugural address at the launch.

Prof. Stevenson added, “J-Hub sought to plug the lacunae by focussing on on-demand skills training. It would curate stories written by trainees on a website – jhub.in – that would be operational shortly. Overtime, it is expected to evolve into an ecosystem of fresh talent and close industry linkage.”
