SANGAREDDY: Three workers were killed in a fire accident reported in the Mylan Laboratories limited in Patancheru Mandal in Sanga Reddy district of Telangana on Sunday afternoon.

As per reports, the fire accident took place at Pharma Unit -1 at the Gaddapotharam, Kazipally Industrial Area at Bollarum in the District. Bollaram CI Surender Reddy revealed that the fire occurred when a flash fire was caused by static energy while solvent was being transferred to another drum inside the warehouse of the industry.

Paritosh Mehta (40)was from West Bengal, Ranjit Kumar (27) was from Bihar, and Lokeshwara Rao (38) who was the warehouse Assitant Manager hailed from Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh suffered severe burn injuries and died while undergoing treatment in the hospital.

As per reports in Sakshi,  the three were inside the liquid raw material sampling/dispensing room when the incident happened. They were shifting a chemical (tetramethyledisiloxane) from a 100 litre drum into a 25 litre container when the fire triggered and left them with severe burn injuries. 

Up to ten people are working in this plant and during the process of shifting the chemicals, suddenly the pressure increased which triggered the fire as the chemicals were highly combustible. The three of them were charred beyond recognition in the process. The staff immediately rushed to the place and extinguished it, averting a major accident in the Pharma unit.

The injured were rushed to a private hospital by the management where they succumbed.  An hour after the incident, police and inspector of factories officials reached the pharma industry. The management however did not allow the media who had come to cover the incident near the premises.

CI Surender Reddy said that a case has been registered and an investigation is being conducted as per the complaint of the Mylan Labs management. Inspector of Factories Praveen Kumar said that action will be taken against the industry. A case was registered against Mylan Pharma management for negligence.
