Nagarkurnool MLC Kuchukulla Damodar Reddy Quits BRS for THIS Reason

Hyderabad: In another jolt to the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) ahead of Telangana Assembly elections, MLC Kuchukulla Damodar Reddy resigned from the party on Thursday. He dispatched a letter to the BRS chief KCR announcing his decision to quit the party. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will address a massive public meeting in Kollapur on October 31 and the Nagarkurnool politician will likely join the grand old party in her presence.

In his letter, Damodar Reddy said he was resigning from the party because the leadership reportedly did not provide him with the required support to resolve local problems.

“I was allowed to meet the former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy once in a fortnight. However, getting an audience from Telangana chief minister KCR is next to impossible. During the last four-and-a-half years, I did not get a chance to meet the chief minister once,” Kuchukulla Damodar Reddy wrote in his resignation letter.

He alleged that KCR treated the MLC post as a rubber stamp post and never cared about the problems he wanted to raise with him. Speculations are rife that Damodar Reddy quit the party because he was not getting along well with the Nagarkurnool MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy. It was also a known fact that the BRS MLC was holding talks with the TPCC leader Mallu Ravi for quite some time. Subsequently, his son joined the Congress party. KCR had made it clear that he wouldn’t tolerate any ‘anti-party activities’.

Damodar Reddy began his political career with Congress. He served as sarpanch and MPP for Thoodukurthy village in Nagarkurnool. In the 2006 Zill Parishad election, he got elected and served as ZPTC Chairman for Mahabubnagar district. He unsuccessfully contested Assembly elections against Marri Janardhan Reddy five times before switching loyalty to the TRS (now BRS).
