Jubilee Hills Bypoll: Wine Shops Shut from November 9 Evening, Dry Days List Inside

The Prohibition and Excise Department has announced dry days in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency in view of the upcoming bypoll scheduled for November 11 and the counting of votes on November 14.

According to a circular issued by Prohibition and Excise Commissioner C. Hari Kiran, the ban on sale of liquor will be enforced from 6 pm on November 9 to 6 pm on November 11, covering the entire polling period. On the day of counting, the restriction will again be in force from 6 am on November 14 until the completion of the counting process.

All liquor outlets, bars, clubs, toddy shops, and Telangana Beverages Corporation depots within the polling limits will remain closed during these hours. The Commissioner stated that strict instructions have been issued to ensure complete compliance.

Hari Kiran added that the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has directed district officials to implement the prohibition measures in accordance with Section 135C of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, which mandates a liquor ban in polling areas during elections.

He also warned that any violations of the order would be dealt with seriously under the relevant provisions of the law. In case of a repoll, similar closure orders will apply to the respective polling areas.

The move comes as part of efforts to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling in the Jubilee Hills constituency ahead of the by-election.
