81 Girl Students of Kakatiya Varsity Suspended for Ragging

Hanamkonda: The administration of Kakatiya University in Warangal has suspended 81 girl students. Following reports of ragging, the varsity took disciplinary action against them. 

According to reports, several first year students from the zoology, economics, and commerce departments approached the administration as they were being harassed by their seniors. The juniors staying at the Padmakshi hostel for women were reportedly ragged on Friday night. 

The complainants further said that the seniors were harassing them for the past three days and yet they kept quiet and did not report the matter to the varsity officials. As seniors continued to harass them, the junior students decided to file a complaint against them. 

After receiving a formal complaint, Prof. T Srinivas Rao, Registrar, Kakatiya University, is learnt to have discussed the matter with the officials of university’s anti-ragging committee. Subsequently, both the first year students and seniors were called for counselling by their respective departments. The varsity officials did not call the police considering the students career ahead but suspended 81 students for a week to discipline them.
