4 Arrested For Attempting To Transport Rs 2.20 Cr To Maoists

ADILABAD: Maharashtra police arrested four people for allegedly transporting around Rs 2.20 crore cash on two vehicles which were to be handed over to Maoists. The vehicles were intercepted at the Maharashtra-Macherial border.

The incident came to light on Thursday.

According to a report in a leading daily, while during border checks, four persons were nabbed on June 2 by the Sirivoncha police.

They were nabbed from two different roads near the Kaleshwaram-Arjungutta interstate border, between Gadchorali in Maharashtra and Mancherial, the daily said.

Two persons were arrested from Warangal to Bhamragad on June 2 and police seized Rs 1 crore from them and then later another vehicle travelling from Mancherial to Asaralli was raided and police seized Rs 1.20 crore.

The arrested people had confessed that they were going to hand over the money to Maoists.
