Tamil Nadu Man Sets Own Car Afire for Insurance Money

A Bharatiya Janata Party member in Tiruvallur West, Tamil Nadu was arrested for setting his own car on fire. A few days ago, BJP district secretary for Tiruvallur West, Sathish Kumar lodged a complaint in the police station alleging that his car which was parked at his home in the Maduravoyal region in Chennai had been set ablaze. The incident took place late on Thursday, April 14. Police started the investigation and to know what has exactly happened, they obtained CCTV evidence. 

According to the CCTV footage, a man in a white shirt approached the car parked on the side of the road and glanced inside the car through the windows and then went away. Later a man dressed in dark clothing poured something all over the car before setting it on fire. After the car is set on fire, the man flees the scene. After watching the CCTV footage, the police came to know that the man who was dressed in dark clothes and set the car on fire was none other than Sathish Kumar. Police interrogated Sathish and he also confessed that he had set fire to his own car.

Sathish Kumar said that his wife has been torturing him to buy gold jewellery but he was not able to purchase it. His wife asked him to sell his car and buy her jewellery.  He then decided to set the car on fire so that he can claim the insurance money for his wife's jewellery. 

Police took Sathish Kumar into custody for interrogation and was later released by the police.
