Several Killed in Explosion at Firecrackers Unit in Tamil Nadu

Virudhunagar [Tamil Nadu]: At least 10 people lost their lives and several others were injured in an explosion in a firecracker manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district on Saturday. The blast occurred on Saturday afternoon in the chemical mixing room of the firecracker facility.

Senior officials from the district administration said that the explosion happened in the factory's chemical mixing room and was caused by a human error.Initial investigations suggest that the explosion was triggered by a lapse in safety protocols, as eight individuals were found in the chemical mixing room, exceeding the limit of two persons. As the explosion was so powerful that it destroyed the factory and nearby structures.

Chief Minister M K Stalin offered his condolences to the families of the deceased and announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and Rs one lakh to the grievously injured.
