India Records Highest Single-Day Spike With 9,304 Cases In 24 Hours

NEW DELHI: India recorded its highest single-day spike in the number of COVID-19 cases with 9,304 people testing positive for the infection in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 2,16,919.

With 260 new deaths, India's toll reached 6,075, according to the union health ministry's update on Thursday morning at 8 am.

There are 1,06,737 active cases in the country with a rise of 5,240 cases in the last 24 hours.

A total of 3,804 people were cured in 24 hours, taking the total tally to 1,04,107.

Maharashtra continues to be tfhe worst-affected state with 74,860 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu(25,872), Delhi (23,645), Gujarat (18,100) and Rajasthan (9,652).

Globally, the coronavirus has infected more than 64.29 lakh people and claimed over 3.85 lakh lives, according to the Johns Hopkins University tracker on Thursday morning. As many as 27.89 lakh people have recovered.
