Bihar Election Results 2025: NDA Secures Majority, Complete Party-Wise Seat Share

The Bihar General Elections 2025 have delivered a decisive mandate, with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) sweeping the contest and securing a commanding majority in the 243-member Assembly. The results reflect a strong consolidation of votes in favour of the NDA, while the Mahagathbandhan (MGB) has faced one of its sharpest declines in recent years. Smaller parties and independents have also managed to leave a modest mark on the electoral map.

NDA: A Resounding Mandate With 203 Seats

Riding on a mix of organisational strength, coalition coordination, and strong booth-level presence, the NDA has comfortably crossed the majority mark.
The seat share within the NDA alliance is as follows:

BJP – 92 seats
JDU – 83 seats
LJP (RV) – 19 seats
HAM(S) – 5 seats
RLM – 4 seats

The BJP has emerged as the single largest party, while the JDU’s performance has reinforced its continued relevance in state politics. Smaller partners also contributed meaningfully to the coalition’s overall tally.

Mahagathbandhan (MGB): A Major Setback With Just 34 Seats

The MGB has witnessed a significant erosion of support despite aggressively campaigning on issues of unemployment and economic distress. The alliance’s internal disagreements and lack of a unified narrative appear to have weakened its outreach.

RJD – 27 seats
INC – 5 seats
CPI(M) – 1 seat
CPI(ML)(L) – 1 seat
VIP – 0 seats

The RJD, although still the largest party within the alliance, has seen a steep fall. The Congress continues to struggle for relevance in Bihar, while the Left’s influence remains minimal.

Others: 6 Seats Make a Small but Notable Presence

Apart from the two main alliances, a few other parties and an independent candidate have managed to register victories:

AIMIM – 5 seats
TPP – 1 seat
BSP – 0 seats
IND – 0 seats

AIMIM’s rise in pockets of minority-dominated constituencies remains an important subplot in this election.
