India’s First 14-Metre Acoustic-Transparent 4K HDR LED Cinema Screen Launched

 - Sakshi Post

Indian cinema technology has entered a new phase with the launch of MAGNOVA, India’s first 14-metre acoustic-transparent Direct View 4K HDR LED cinema screen, by UFO Cinema Solutions at Magic Frames in Kakkanad, Kochi.

The landmark installation was inaugurated by Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on the occasion of Chingam 1. The event was attended by ministers, dignitaries and several leading names from Malayalam cinema, including Dileep, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kunchacko Boban, Tovino Thomas, Shane Nigam, Basil Joseph, Jayasurya and Manju Warrier.

MAGNOVA is UFO Cinema Solutions’ premium large-format cinema offering. The Kochi auditorium features a 14-metre x 6-metre DCI-compliant Direct View 4K HDR LED display with a 3.91mm pixel pitch. The screen uses HEYLED technology and is calibrated specifically for theatrical presentation.

The key feature of MAGNOVA is its acoustic-transparent design. The technology allows speakers to be placed directly behind the LED screen, making the sound appear to come from the images on screen. This is designed to create a more natural and immersive connection between picture and sound.

The auditorium also features Dolby Atmos immersive audio and Pulz Cinema Speakers, further enhancing the premium cinema experience.

New experience for audiences and exhibitors

For audiences, MAGNOVA offers a larger and brighter picture with 4K HDR, high contrast and zero light spill. The sound coming directly from behind the 14-metre screen is aimed at providing an experience that goes beyond what is possible on home viewing platforms.

For exhibitors, the technology offers a premium large-format auditorium that can help differentiate their properties, support premium ticket pricing and provide a future-ready platform for consistent image quality.

The Kochi launch also marks the beginning of MAGNOVA’s national rollout. UFO Cinema Solutions is currently in discussions with exhibitors across India to introduce the technology in major metros as well as emerging cities and towns.

“Cinema has moved from film to digital, and now to direct-view LED. MAGNOVA is the next chapter in that journey,” said Pradeep Shetty, Business Head – Cinema Solutions, UFO Cine Media Network.

“We’re not just installing a screen. We’re building a complete premium cinema experience. Our goal is to give exhibitors a future-ready asset and give audiences a compelling reason to return to theatres,” he added.

According to the company, MAGNOVA will also be offered with different technology options. Along with MAGNOVA powered by HEYLED, UFO is developing MAGNOVA powered by CINITY, giving exhibitors multiple options for creating premium cinema formats.

UFO Cinema Solutions made its industry debut at the Big Cine Expo 2026, held in Chennai on August 18 and 19. The company showcased MAGNOVA products, including HEYLED displays and CINITY projectors. The new cinema technology and its concept received a positive response from industry professionals at the event.
