Warangal: MLA’s PA, Two Others Arrested For Law Student Rape And Forcing Her Into Prostitution

Hanamkonda police on Thursday arrested Vemula Shiva Kumar, the personal assistant of Warangal East MLA, his relative and hostel owner Vemula Shobha, and a medical shop owner named Kota Shiva Kumar on charges of raping and criminally intimidating a woman and forcing her into prostitution. The accused were also booked under relevant sections of the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The girl who hails from Siddipet was studying fourth-year law in a private law college and was staying in a private hostel in Hanamkonda.

As per her complaint, hostel owner Vemula Shoba forced her to have physical relations with Vijay Kumar who was related to her. He is said to have allegedly sexually exploited her for over a month. He took her photos and videos and threatened to post them on social media platforms and blackmailed her to have physical relations with Shiva Kumar. Shiva Kumar was running a medical shop near Hanumakonda and had sexually assaulted the victim.

She also mentioned in the complaint that the hostel owner forced her to go to various places. Unable to bear the harassment, the victim approached Hanamkonda police. Based on her complaint, Shoba, Vijay Kumar, and Shiva Kumar under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and  SC/ST Amendment Act-2015, Hanumakonda ACP  Kiran Kumar stated. The accused will be produced before a judge and sent to remand on Friday. The victim was sent to the Government Hospital for medical tests.
