Ramesh Powar Is New Head Of Indian Women Cricket Team

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has chosen former India spinner, Ramesh Powar to replace WV Raman as head coach of the Indian women's cricket team on Thursday, which has sprung a surprise.

The committee received 35 applications for the position, with six candidates being shortlisted and three candidates being interviewed on Wednesday. WV Raman, the current coach, was an automatic inclusion in the shortlist after leading the team to the final of the T20 World Cup in Australia last year.

Ramesh Powar was fired from his job shortly after the World Cup ended. Powar was the team's head coach in 2018. The feud started after Mithali Raj was left out of India's T20 World Cup semi-final against England, which India ultimately lost.

Powar retaliated by accusing Raj of prioritizing "her interest" over the team. Powar was fired from his job shortly after the World Cup ended. T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana wrote fervent appeals to the BCCI to reinstate Powar as a coach, revealing deeper rifts within the squad.
