YS Jagan Slams Chandrababu’s “Credit-Chor” Politics
Jagan Accuses TDP Govt of Stealing Credit for YSRCP’s Housing Projects
Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a scathing attack on AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, accusing the TDP government of shamelessly taking credit for housing projects initiated and executed under the previous YSRCP regime.
Calling Naidu’s move a “brazen credit-chor scheme,” Jagan said the TDP government was “stealing glory from others’ hard work.” He alleged that in the last 18 months, Naidu’s administration had “not acquired a single square yard for the poor, not granted even one house site, not sanctioned a single house, and not spent a single paisa on housing.” Yet, he said, the same government is loudly proclaiming, “We built all the houses.”
“Converting others’ labour into his own glory is disgraceful. A person who steals credit for others’ work is no leader — he’s a playwright,” Jagan remarked sharply.
Countering the TDP’s claims, the YSRCP chief detailed that of the 3,00,092 houses Chandrababu boasts about, “not a single pattadar (title deed) was issued by his government, and not one house was sanctioned under his tenure.” He further clarified that during YSRCP rule, 1,40,010 houses were nearing completion, 87,380 had reached slab level, and 66,845 were under active construction.
Recalling YSRCP’s historic achievement, Jagan said that on October 12, 2023, his government conducted 7,43,396 house-warming ceremonies in a single day, creating a record in welfare delivery. He also highlighted that the YSRCP administration distributed 31.19 lakh house-site pattas to poor women across 71,800 acres, sanctioned 21.75 lakh houses, and, despite the pandemic, completed over 9 lakh homes.
Blasting the current government for “locking up vacant plots meant for the poor,” Jagan accused Naidu of using “yellow media” to spread false propaganda and hijack YSRCP’s achievements.
Terming the act as “political theft,” Jagan concluded, “Stealing others’ work, grabbing land meant for the poor, and publicising lies as your own is the essence of Chandrababu’s credit-chor politics — a shameful tactic that the people of Andhra Pradesh will not tolerate.”
