Before 2019, TDP - 9, YSRCP - 2 in Rajya Sabha

YSRCP to score 11 out of 11 in Rajya Sabha

TDP to reduce to zero

The process of nominations for the Rajya Sabha has concluded. YSRCP has unanimously secured all three Rajya Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh. YSRCP has nominated Golla Babu Rao, Vaviri Subbareddy, and Meda Raghunath Reddy for these three positions. With these three seats, YSRCP's tally in the Rajya Sabha reaches 11 members.

As of April 2, TDP member 'Kanakamedala', YSRCP member Vemireddy, and BJP member CM Ramesh have completed their tenures. Consequently, elections must be held in February or March to fill these vacant seats. However, since no nominations have been filed, elections will be uncontested. As a result, YSRCP is set to gain all 11 seats in the state legislature.

There should be a total of 250 members in the Rajya Sabha. Currently, there are 245 members. Of these, 233 are elected representatives of various states. The remaining 12 are nominated by the President. There are 11 members from the state legislature in the Rajya Sabha.

Before the 2019 elections, YSRCP had only two members. Nine members belonged to TDP. In the 2019 elections, YSRCP won a significant victory, securing 151 out of 151 legislative assembly seats in the state. TDP suffered a severe defeat, being restricted to just 23 seats. With recent elections, TDP's presence in the Rajya Sabha has diminished.

After 41 years in existence, TDP finds itself without representation in the state legislature. This situation reflects poorly on Chandrababu's leadership of the party. Despite his efforts, Chandrababu failed to garner sufficient support. His inability to influence the outcome of elections indicates the declining strength of his party.
