Rude Shock for Naidu as Anantapur Loyalists to Quit Party

Puttaparthi: The party leaders who worked hard to strengthen TDP in Andhra Pradesh have failed to get recognition in the party. The TDP leadership is known for using the BC, SCm ST and minorities as a vote bank. The leaders from the weaker sections claim that there is no internal democracy in the party and those who raise their voice against the injustice meted out to them are targeted by the leadership. 

With the BC and weaker section communities not favouring the TDP, the party has lost base at the gram panchayat level. It’s noteworthy that the party faced humiliating defeat at the local body polls. The party is slowly losing its relevance at the booth level. 

The BC voters are dismayed due to the declining representation of the community in the district TDP unit. They claim that the BC leaders may have been given leadership in one or two places in the district but the influential Paritala family is calling the shots. 

The TPD is struggling with a severe dissidence within the party in Penukonda constituency as its former MLAs Paritala Sunitha and BK Parthasarathi are locked in a bitter internal tussle. The party workers feel that due to this infighting several leaders are leaving the party. 

Madakasira Assembly constituency is a Scheduled Caste reserved constituency in Sri Sathya Sai district, however, the SC leaders have been relegated to secondary position in the constituency  by the party leaders. The party had appointed former MLA Eeranna as the local in-charge, however, former MLC and a prominent BC leader Gundumala Thippeswamy lobbied with the party leadership and now ruling the TDP unit.  

Hindupur assembly constituency is a Muslim-dominated constituency. In 2009 assembly polls, Abdul Ghani won the Hindupur seat with a majority. Later, Nandamuri Balakrishna was fielded from the assembly in the subsequent elections. Expressing his displeasure over denying MLA ticket, Ghani crossed over to the YSR Congress party. The Muslim voters feel that Naidu has cheated the minorities and therefore, they have vowed to defeat his party in the forthcoming assembly elections.
