AP Creates World Record With Vaccination Drive, 13 Lakh+ People Vaccinated In One Day! - Sakshi Post

AMARAVATI:   By the end of 7 PM on Sunday, Andhra Pradesh set a record milestone by vaccinating more than 13,72,481 people in a single day in the Mega Vaccination Drive to inoculate people with COVID Vaccine. The COVID vaccine was administered to people in a marathon 15 hours.

As per reports, 7 out of 13 districts in the State have administered more than 1 lakh dose, in what could be a world record feat in any single state.  With a focus on persons over the age of 45 years and mothers with children under five years and those going abroad for study and work,  the vaccine drive began at 6 am in all 13 districts and ended at 9 pm.

By 3.30 pm, over 10 lakh vaccines were administered which was a record in itself.

More than 28,917 staff of the Medical and Health Department, 40,000 ASHA workers, and 5,000 other staff were deployed in 4,589 vaccination centres across the state to make this unique feat possible.

Health Commissioner Katamaneni Bhaskar said that out of the total number of people vaccinated, 12,85,394 received their first dose and 87,087 received their second dose.

In the process, AP also crossed the one-crore mark in the administration of the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

So far, 1.11 crore people in the state got the first dose and 27,38,001 the second shot since the Covid vaccination programme began on January 16.

State Covid Task Force Chairman K S Jawahar Reddy remarked that this showed that the capability of the State medical team could handle over one million vaccinations in a day if the Government of India maintains the (vaccine) supply.

West and East Godavari, Guntur, Krishna, Visakhapatnam, Chittoor, and Prakasam districts crossed the one-lakh mark in a day.

Andhra Pradesh reported 5,646 fresh COVID-19 cases. While 7,772 people recovered and another 50 succumbed to the virus in 24 hours ending 9 am on Sunday.
