Chidambaram Bizarre Demands In Tihar Jail

New Delhi: Former finance minister P Chidambaram has made a list of things that he would require in Tihar Jail. He has been sent to judicial custody in Tihar Jail in the INX Media case till September 19.

His lawyers have filed an application to a Delhi court asking jail authorities to provide him certain facilities which include a western toilet as Chidambaram cannot sit on the ground, and permission to retain his spectacles.

Chidambaram has also sought adequate security in the Jail premises since he is a Z-category security protectee, alongside a request for a separate cell.

His lawyer Kapil Sibal said that the jail manual might not allow for a separate cell but the Z-security will be provided for. The Solicitor General (SG) has assured that there will be adequate security for Chidambaram in jail.

The judge has allowed all requests, but subject to the jail manual. He was also allowed to carry his medicines to jail.

P Chidambaram was sent to Tihar jail Thursday by a Delhi court where he will spend 14 days in judicial custody.
