Taiwan Hospital Signs MoU With Indian Healthcare Group

Both will engage on exchange programmes, research and development centered on global health, community development initiatives and publications

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was recently signed between National Cheng Kung University Hospital and the South India-based Center for Health and Development (CHD Group) to engage on exchange programmes, research and development centered on global health, community development initiatives and publications.

The MoU was signed in Taiwan city between CHD Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Edmond Fernandes and National Cheng Kung University Hospital Superintendent Professor Chyun-Yu Yang. After three years, the MoU can be renewed or amended.

National Cheng Kung University Hospital, established in 1980, has more than 1,200 beds. It provides a comprehensive range of specialties and high quality emergency, in-patient, outpatient, and health examination services.

CHD Group, established in 2014, works with different Government Departments, United Nation agencies, Corporate and Public Sector Units and Academic institutes of Excellence on different agendas in healthcare and development.

Dr. Jeevan R, Assistant Director, CHD Group, Dr. Hsu, I-Lin, Director, International Medical Center, Professor Ting-Hsing Chao, Chief Secretary, National Cheng Kung University Hospital, Dr. Jing-Ming, Deputy Superintendent and Director of Pediatric Cardiology, Dr. Jenq-Chang Lee, Deputy Superintendent and Dr. Chih-Jen Chang, Deputy Superintendent of the University Hospital were present on the occasion.

Later, Dr. Ting Chia Weng, Wan Chen Tsia and Dr. Liang visited CHD Group headquarters in Mangalore and interacted with officials of the Wenlock District Hospital to understand the Indian Health Systems and how the Government tries to boost the health of the most vulnerable.
While in Taiwan, Dr. Edmond Fernandes and Dr. Jeevan R visited different healthcare and biomedical industries to know how their products could be used in Indian markets. They also had a series of meetings with officials of different departments and hospitals to further bridge and build global health diplomacy.Dr Fernandes told Sakshi News that his Group had been in contact with the famous hospital for several years. "Our cooperation will begin as soon as project-specific ideals are processed with various departments. These multiple parameters are centered around healthcare co-operation ranging from advocacy, exchanges, research and shared learning," he said. The beneficiaries of the MoU will be mainly healthcare providers and the efforts put in now, are built around sustainable futures.
