Mimicry Artiste Mimics Minister’s Voice, Transfers 28 Officials

A mimicry artiste has stirred up a controversy in Tamil Nadu on Monday evening when he mimicked the voice of Tamil Nadu Power Minister Thangamani and telephonically ordered suspension and transfers of 28 electrical officials.

Some officials were informed that they have been transferred and one officer has even been suspended. Impersonating the voice of the minister, the mimicry artiste told he was suspended for non-performance. A shocked official approached the minister, who was shocked and ordered a probe into the incident. The officials in turn sought the help of the police.

The probe found that Dindigal-based mimicry artist Savari Muthu was the one who mimicked the voice of the minister. He has since been taken into custody. Further investigation is on.
