KCR announces world-class roads, corridors for Hyderabad - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad, World-class roads up to a length of 1,000 km at an investment of Rs.10,000 crore, two corridors connecting four corners of Hyderabad and four lakh LED street lights were some of the major announcements made Friday by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Announcing series of measures to develop the city as the best destination for business and industry, he said the technology for the roads would be better than the one used in cities like New York and London.

Fresh from his visit to Singapore and Malaysia, KCR, as the chief minister is popularly known, said roads to a length of 500 km would be completed in two years and the remaining 50 percent would be done in another two years.

In a move to ease congestion, he said an east-west four-lane corridor (skyway) would be developed between Vanasthalipuram and Ramachandrapuram. "Similarly a corridor will be developed between north and south," he said while opposing the proposal mooted by officials for construction of 25 flyovers.

The chief minister was speaking at the inauguration of Hyderabad property show organized by Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Association of India (CREDAI) here.

He announced 1,500 major and medium rain water drains will be developed or restored to permanently solve the problem of flooding of roads and residential colonies during rainy season. He termed stagnation of rain water on roads as a shame on administration.

KCR said that four lakh LED lights would replace the existing street lights in the city. He said another outer ring road would be developed in addition to the existing one with satellite townships and specialized clusters like pharma city, sports city, health city and cinema city.

KCR, who visited Singapore and Malaysia last week, said global consultants would be hired to prepare a new master plan for Hyderabad keeping in view its requirements especially with the development of Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR). He said a new international airport will also be planned at Shameerpet on the outskirts.

The chief minister vowed to make Hyderabad the best place for the industry with single window clearance system, which he said would be zero-graft and the best in the world.

Announcing that a legislation in this regard will be passed in coming session of the assembly, he said once the single window clearance becomes a reality, industry will run to Hyderabad.

"The administration in Telangana is going to be corruption free. There will be no tolerance for corruption," he said while describing it as the biggest ill plaguing society.

Stating that Hyderabad has many advantages, KCR said he had no doubt that it would soon grow faster than any other city in the country.

The chief minister also announced sops to boost real estate sector. He also promised a single window system to give all clearances for real estate projects, saying the existing system of obtaining 40 no-objection certificates from different departments is for only for taking bribes from developers.

KCR announced withdrawal of Non-Agricultural Land Assessment (NALA) tax imposed on real estate firms and also promised to do away with rules like mandatory permission from civil aviation ministry for each building.

Stating that real estate is a priority sector for his government, he assured the developers that he will create a hassle-free environment for them.
