Is the Andhra Pradesh Home Ministry jinxed? - Sakshi Post

Dust has settled on the largest elections the country has seen, and now the time has come for the portfolio musical chair to begin.

The verdict has come in, and TRS chief K.Chandrasekhara Rao, and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu are going to form new governments in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively.  But they will have a tough time allotting one important post.

Traditionally considered to be one of the more important portfolios, the Home Ministry is also the most sought after, but not in Andhra.  According to several news channels and websites, no politician from either TDP or TRS are willing to touch the post.

Their rationale behind this ostracizing, is that the post is jinxed. Reportedly the ministers feel that those handled the post either died in accidents or had their political career gravely severed.

Former Home Ministers like Vasanta Nageswara Rao, MV Mysoora Reddy and Kodela Siva Prasad Rao, have seen major political upheavals. On the other hand,  Indra Reddy, Home Minister in NT Rama Rao's cabinet and Madava Reddy in Chandrababu's cabinet were killed in road accidents.

Former Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy did not allot Home Ministry post to anyone after Sabitha Indra Reddy's name was mentioned in CBI charge-sheet. Kiran himself did not contest elections this time around. His party, Jai Samaikyandhra could not even win a single seat.

It remains to be seen if any minister will brave the jinx and bite the bullet.
