As many as 22 people died due to soaring mercury levels in the state on Friday.

Andhra Pradesh continued to reel under severe heatwave for the third consecutive day on Friday as 22 sunstroke related deaths were reported from several districts. It may be recalled that as many 20 sunstroke deaths were reported yesterday.

The Met department said the heatwave will continue for two more days in the state. Coastal and Telangana districts will record highest temperatures in the next two days. The Met has predicted Friday to be the hottest day with the state likely to record 49 degree Celsius. Rentachintala and Ramagundam continued to record highest temperature. At the coal belts, temperatures crossed the 50 mark.

Here are a few incidents of death reported from across the state due to the hot atmosphere

  •     Labourer killed at Bellampalli in Adilabad
  •     Young man killed in Rajahmundry in East Godavari district
  •     One died in at Keslapalli under Raghunadhapalli mandal in Warangal
  •     Elderly person killed at Turuvolu under Chidikada mandal in Vishakhapatnam
  •     One died at Jaggampalli under Midukuru of YSR district
  •     One women died on the outskirts of Hayathnagar in Hyderabad
  •     Two died in Guntur


With the temperatures going up and doctors advising people against venturing out in the hot sun, most roads in the state wore a deserted look. The temperature in Hyderabad is 44 degree Celsius.

A warning has been issued that heat wave conditions would prevail in the districts of Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur and Krishna in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Nalgonda, Medak and Hyderabad during the next two days.
