The police grew suspicious when the bodies could not be found despite intense search. Then they questioned Sophia and she finally spilled the beans.

The two girls - Lovepreet Kaur (19) and Nisha (18) of Kahnuwan faked drowing while taking a selfie in UBDC canal at the Gurdaspur-Sri Hargobindpur Road. Her cousin Sophia (17) told the villagers that both had drowned. But, the police grew suspicious when the bodies could not be found despite intense search. Then they questioned Sophia, who finally spilled the beans.

Meanwhile, the girls hitchhiked a truck and went to Chandigarh. From there they went to Delhi. But, there their pockets dried up and were planning to come back home. At this time, the police tracked them down and brought them home.

The police have decided not to book any case against the duo.
