Ebola suspect in Hyderabad?

Hyderabad:  A suspected Ebola patient was found at Gandhi hospital in Secunderabad on Tuesday.

According to reports, Srinivas Prasad, 52, who is resident of Srinagar colony in Hyderabad, who was working in a private firm,arrived in Mumbai airport from Nigeria on 21st of November. After his blood samples tested negative for Ebola in three different tests, was sent to Hyderabad.

Srinivas from 24th November was suffering from severe fever and was admitted to Care hospital in Banjara hills. While diagnosing him doctors suspected Ebola symptoms, was shifted to Gandhi hospital. Srinivas has been kept in isolation ward for treatment. When asked about the same Virology department in-charge Narasimhulu said his body fluids was sent to National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in Delhi. He will be kept in isolation till his body fluids test negative “as a matter of abundant caution.”

Meanwhile, the Ebola disease, formerly known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever, is a severe, often fatal illness in humans. It is transmitted to people from wild animals and spreads in humans through direct contact with bodily fluids of an infected patient.

Symptoms of the disease typically start between two days and three weeks after contracting the virus.
In the beginning, the symptoms may range from fever, sore throat, muscle pain and headache. Then, vomiting and diarrhea usually follow, along with decreased function of the liver and kidneys. Some of those affected may also begin to bleed both internally and externally.
